๐ช GPU Battle #15 RX 6600 vs RTX 3050 ๐ช
This is a budget-tier fight from the previous generation โ AMD’s RDNA 2 RX 6600 versus NVIDIA’s Ampere RTX 3050. The RX 6600 is an 8GB GDDR6 card on a 128-bit bus with 1,792 stream processors, no ray tracing worth mentioning. The RTX 3050 is an 8GB GDDR6 card on a 128-bit bus with 2,560 CUDA cores, dedicated RT cores, and DLSS 2 support. Same VRAM, same bus width, similar price tier โ but very different performance levels and priorities.
In rasterized gaming, the RX 6600 wins comfortably โ typically 20โ30% faster than the RTX 3050 at 1080p and 1440p. AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture simply has more gaming throughput at this tier, and the 3050 was never a strong raster card. At 1440p the gap holds, though both cards start to struggle in modern AAA titles at high settings. In ray tracing, the RTX 3050 technically wins because it has working RT cores โ but the performance is so low it’s barely usable in most RT titles. The RX 6600 doesn’t meaningfully support ray tracing at all, so it’s a no-contest category that’s mostly irrelevant at this price point. In upscaling, DLSS 2 on the 3050 is a genuine advantage โ it can turn unplayable framerates into playable ones. AMD’s FSR is available on both cards, but DLSS is noticeably better in image quality. In VRAM, they tie at 8GB โ enough for 1080p high, tight for 1440p ultra. In power draw, both cards are efficient โ the 6600 at around 132W, the 3050 at roughly 130W โ with similar thermals. In features, the 3050 brings DLSS, NVENC for streaming, and better driver maturity for creator work. The 6600 counters with better raw performance and often a lower price.
Short version: RX 6600 for raw raster performance and value. RTX 3050 for DLSS, encoding, and ray tracing hardware that’s technically there.
Choose RX 6600 if you mostly play raster games at 1080p, want the best performance per dollar, or find one significantly cheaper.
Choose RTX 3050 if you need DLSS, NVENC for streaming, or care about ray tracing and CUDA โ even if the RT performance is limited.
