Open Hyper-V Manager and at the right panel click Virtual Switch Manager.
Select what typer of VS you want to create and click Create Virtual Switch. By selecting one of three different types you can see below the “Create Virtual Switch” button, information about this type.
Choose a name for the VS. You can also change the type of the VS here. Some information about the 3 three checkboxes:
- Allow Management… excludes the host OS from the network, but there is access to the VMs
- Enable Single… the external virtual switch can be associated with a physical NIC that supports SR-IOV.
- Enable Virtual… associates the VS with a specific VLAN on your physical Network.
You can delete a VS by selecting a VS and click the Remove button. See the picture above.
With PowerShell you can add a new VS with:
new-vmswitch -name privateSwitch -switchType Private
get-vmswitch #list all the VSs
remove-vmswitch "VS Private" #remove a VS
