Windows Server 2016 – DNS Server Create Primary Zone

Open DNS Manager, select and right-click the server you want. Select New Zone.

Click Next, select Primary zone and click Next.

Choose what type of zone will be and click Next.

Specify a name for the zone and click Next.

If you want to create a new zone file just click Next. If you want to use an existing file, choose the second option.

Choose the type of dynamic updates and then Next.

Click Finish. The zone has been added.

You can do the same with PowerShell:

add-dnsserverprimaryzone -name "kz.local" -zonefile "kz.local.dns" -Dynamicupdate none

…after you type -DynamicUpdate, press Ctrl + space to see the available options.
