Windows 10 added support for Virtual Desktops. With Virtual Desktops you can have many open applications in separate desktops and keep them open.

You can create a virtual desktop by clicking Task View Button

and then you click + New desktop

Now you can see that you have 2 desktops

You can add a new Desktop by clicking the button with +

You can switch desktop by:

  • clicking Task View button and then select the Desktop you want to use.
  • pressing the buttons Windows + Tab and then select the Desktop you want to use.
  • pressing the button Windows + Ctrl + Left or Windows + Ctrl + Right  to go previous or next virtual desktop

Let’s open 2 applications, one application in every virtual desktop

File explorer at the first desktop

and Microsoft Edge at the second desktop

Now, if you open the Task View you will see the open applications in every Virtual Desktop

If you want to delete a virtual desktop, move the mouse over the virtual desktop you want to delete and a red close button will appear. You just click that button.
