Select files

You can select multiple files by pressing and holding Ctrl and click the files you want to select.

An other way to select multiple files is by pressing and holding Shift and click the first and the last file. All the files between will be selected

Delete one or multiple files

You can delete a file by selecting the file and the press the Delete button or right-click the selected file and click Delete

An other way is to click the big red X button Delete on the ribbon

You can delete multiple files the same way but you need to select the files first.

Notice that by default the files you delete, are moved to the Recycle Bin. If you want to delete the files permanently, before you click/press Delete you need to press and hold the Shift button and hold it. Then you will see a confirmation windows like this below. Click Yes.

Renaming one or multiple files

Select a file, right-click it and click Rename

Then you will see the file ready for renaming. Specify the new name and press Enter

An other way is to select the file and press the F2 button on your keyboard. You can also click the Rename button on the ribbon.

Command Prompt

Delete file with the del command:

del file.txt

If you want to delete an item with a space you need to use quotes “

del "file1 - Copy.txt"

Delete directory with rmdir command:

rmdir testDirectory

You can rename an item with ren command. You need to write the file name first and then the new name

ren "file1 - Copy.txt" file.txt
