Install Eclipse and GO

Open the terminal, update the system repository index and install wget and openJDK

sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y wget
sudo apt install -y openjdk-8-jdk

Then verify the Java version with:

java -version

Download the Eclipse IDE using a browser here, or using the terminal:

wget https://mirrors.dotsrc.org/eclipse//technology/epp/downloads/release/2019-09/R/eclipse-javascript-2019-09-R-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz

Now extract the package you have downloaded:

sudo tar -xzvf eclipse-javascript-2019-09-R-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz -C /usr/

Create a soft link for the eclipse executable to /usr/bin

 sudo ln -s /usr/eclipse/eclipse /usr/bin/eclipse

Now you can start it by typing eclipse.

Install GoClipse plugin

Start Eclipse IDE and click on Help Menu > Eclipse Marketplace. Search for GoClipse. Click Install.

Now click Windows > Preferences > Go. Specify the go installation directory. Click Apply.

Expand Go and click Tools. Click the Download buttons for gocode, guru and godef.

Click Apply and Close

Create a Go project

Click File > New > Project. Select Go project and click Next.

Specify the project name and click Finish.

Expand the project name, right-click src.

Click New > Go file. Specify the source filename. Click Finish.

Write the Hello World small program.

Now you have to build the project. Double click build.

If you want to run the project, you need to create run configuration. Right-click the project, click Run as and then Run Configurations. Double click Go Application and a new configuration will be created.

Now select the project and package to build. Specify or click Browse and Select. Click Apply and then Close. Now click the play button

At the console tab, you can see the output of the project.
